What is the difference between Amp Hour rating (AH) and Cold Cranking Amps (CCA)?
Only deep cycle batteries are rated in amp hours (AH). Car and truck starting batteries are not designed to be deep cycled. Instead, they need lots of current to get the car started, and then they get recharged immediately. That's why they are rated in Cold Cranking Amps (CCA), not amp hours. Don't ever use a battery with a CCA rating in a deep cycle solar application. Just think about the last time you left the lights on in your car: it probably ruined the battery. Each type of battery is designed for its special purpose.
